Becoming a Christian
How can we become a Christian?
This is a question that has been asked of me so I put together some scriptures that might help you in the process.
We have to realize that we are all sinners, and we are all lost until we acknowledge our need of a Savior and accept him into our hearts and lives: Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Rom 3:10-As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
We need to realize that God loved us and gave His Son, Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins;
John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
We need to believe in our heart, confess our sins and ask God’s forgiveness and ask him to come into our hearts and lives and save us from our sins. Then, Confess Him as Lord. Rom 10:10- For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
We are saved by grace through faith. It is a gift of God; it is not something we can earn. We just have to accept this gift of salvation from God by grace through faith. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is a gift of God; Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Once we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior the Bible says we become new creatures. God will start to clean up your life and make you into the person he wants you to be. He will help you to put away old bad habits and pick up new good habits. II Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
You need to put your complete faith and trush in Him. Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
We need to study our Bible and pray to deepen our relationship with God
2Timothy2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
It would also be good for you to get in a good Bible believing church that preaches and teaches the Bible so you can learn more about His word and have fellowship with other believers and be baptized as a testament to your salvation. Leave a comment to let us know of your decision so we can pray for you.
